Marcel and Sujata Ringawa lived and studied in an international meditation ashram and retreat site for 20 years. They traveled throughout the world teaching small and large groups of people from diverse cultural backgrounds. Lifelong practitioners of meditation, they traveled to India several times to further their study and practice of meditation and Eastern philosophy. They are indebted to their spiritual teachers, Swamis Muktananda and Gurumayi Chidvilasananda for
their
everlasting guidance and inspiration.
Marcel and Sujata are currently on the teaching faculty of the Prana Mandir Teacher Training in NYC.
Sujata is a certified Anusara Yoga Teacher. She has been teaching Anusara Yoga since 1999 in classes, retreats and at health spas in the U.S.A. and in Europe, and has taught yoga for over twenty years. From 1999-2004, she was a yoga instructor in an international meditation ashram and retreat site, where she taught in classes and teacher trainings.
Sujata has studied extensively with John Friend, the founder of Anusara Yoga. His generous-hearted sharing of knowledge and insights has greatly enriched her practice and teaching of hatha yoga.
Sujata’s dynamic teaching style playfully brings her spontaneous sense of joy and delight and her love of exploration together with a deep appreciation for the philosophy and study of yoga. Her enthusiastic, light-hearted approach inspires students to move out of their limited perceptions of what they are capable of, and express their unique greatness in each pose.
A former choreographer and dancer, she taught modern dance, creative movement, and improvisational movement and theatre at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass. and in her private studio in Northampton, Mass. Her passion for movement is woven into her teaching.
Dr. Marcel Ringawa is an educator and management consultant who has applied his experience with adult learning, Eastern philosophy and intuitive meditation to create methods that transform personal vision and goals into reality.
Dr. Ringawa studied yoga philosophy and history in ashrams in India and in the United States. He is inspired by these years of study and practice, and his love for yoga, to share his insights about the evolution and turning points in yoga and its relevance for the 21st century.
Dr. Ringawa holds advanced degrees from New York University and the University of Massachusetts in history and education. He has taught in junior high school, college and in non-traditional learning environments around the world.
His personal spiritual quest led him to visit sacred sites such as Uluru in Australia, Macchu Picchu in Peru, sacred temples in South India and Mount Kailas in Tibet.
Dr. Ringawa is an instructor at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth where he offered a course entitiled "The History of India".
